Mark is one of only four players in baseball history to be a "Triple Crown Loser" which goes to the player who finishes last in each of the three Triple Crown batting categories. To be considered, a player must have accumulated at least the same amount of at bats required for the league batting title.
In 1970, Belanger's one home run, 36 rbis and .218 batting average were enough for him to capture the crown.
Oh well. I know this though. If Belanger were alive and playing today, he would be available in 99.99% of all fantasy leagues.

ReplyDeleteNope, he's the only one on this list in the Hall, in fact, the only one even close. But when he started out, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.
