Julian Tavarez
Born today, Julian Tavarez.
After a somewhat undistinguished 16 years in the major leagues, Tavarez signed with the Nationals on March 13, 2009.
These were his comments per ESPN:
"Why did I sign with the Nationals? When you go to a club at 4 in the morning, and you're just waiting, waiting, a 600-pounder looks like J-Lo. And to me, this is Jennifer Lopez right here. It's 4 in the morning. Too much to drink. So, Nationals is Jennifer Lopez to me."
In July 2009, he was released.
If I was the Nationals GM, unless this guy is going to take you to the World Series, he would have been released March 14, 2009. Who needs an employee comparing you to a 4 in the morning mistake?
Take that to the independent leagues. Those are the 5 AM teams.
(My kids can color better than that)

I'm embarrassed that the card you have shows him in a Cubs uniform. The guy was a real head-case during his time with the Cubs.
That's the worst signature I've ever seen. It looks like he signed it right before he walked over to 600lb J-Lo.
Or after she rejected him.
Wow, take it easy with the JT hate. He was one of the most entertaining players when he was on the Sox, and refreshingly gave us quotes like that all the time. He did whatever the team asked him to do and always had a great attitude. He may not have had a "distinguished" career according to you, blog boy, but he lasted 16 years in the major leagues, he deserves just a bit of respect.
