It's better in Milwaukee!
On this date in 1991, Don Mattingly of the Yankees is benched and fined $250 for refusing to cut his shoulder length hair but the Yankees still beat the Royals 5-1. Fellow Yankees, Steve Farr, Matt Nokes and Pasqual Perez were also told that their hair length violates club policy. Mel Hall who wears his hair in a short ponytail is warned that his appearance is "borderline".
The Yankees finished 71-91 that year good enough for 5th place in the A.L. East.
