If I was the umpire, I would check it for dents. Otherwise, I would let it go.*
*I played softball with a guy who had an aluminum bat severely dented in a few spots so much that parts of it resembled a cricket bat. Once in a while, the umpires would tell him to get a new bat but usually they didn't notice and let him hit with it. Let me tell you, hitting a softball on the flat spot of that bat was the equivalent of hitting a super ball. The ultimate weapon.
