Cesar Izturis

Jayson Stark of ESPN reports that the Orioles gave Cesar Itzuris an incentive clause in his contract where he gets a $25,000 bonus if he wins a Silver Slugger award.

Of course, Itzuris has a career .259 batting average and has the second-lowest career OPS (.619) of any player with 2000 or more at bats who is currently on an active roster.

Obviously they could have made it a billion dollars but no sense embarrassing him.

I doubt that they needed to insure that particular clause.

Just takin' their chances.

That's a reachable incentive.
