Chicago Cubs College of Coaches

On this date in 1961, Charlie Grimm and Verlon Walker are named to the eight-man Chicago Cubs College of Coaches. Under this system, which was actually implemented, a different coach will manage the team each month during the season. Members of the group will also rotate between the Major League team and the minor league affiliates.

Yeah, I can see this working!

Like having a substitute teacher every day!

Chaos in the classroom; but it never ends because the "regular teacher" never comes back!

1961 Cubs record: 64-90

I guess the record speaks for itself.

Actually an improvement over 1960 (60-94) but still.
