Depends on your outlook. I can't imagine playing the game and not enjoying it.
I thought about this quote for a while before posting because I was thinking the exact same thing.
How could he have excelled like he did, even if he worked hard every single day, if he didn't really like what he was doing?
I take his word for it though.
I do know that he no longer likes to talk about baseball and does other things in his retirement.
