Random thoughts at the Tigers/Royals game

1. Does every Latino player have to have salsa music as their walk-up music? NOT a stereotype. Just an observation with an admittedly small sample size. If they played some metal or like even a church hymn, I would shut up.

2. Thumbs up to Jeremy Jeffress of the Royals who tossed 8 year old Skate Kid a baseball during batting practice. Yeah Jeremy!

3. Baseball ain't no city game. (Living so near Detroit my whole life I have always known this) After the game, Skate Kid requested dinner at McDonald's. We stopped at one in the city (we live about 10 miles outside the city limits) because I know this one doesn't do much business and wouldn't be busy. As we walked in, a teenage employee cheerfully asked how we liked the game and we said we liked it. His co-employees laughed at him. It was a "baseball" thing. He instantly lost his street cred. Baseball ain't no city game.

4. Saw a lady in a hairnet taking a picture of her husband/boyfriend changing a flat tire on the side of the freeway. You don't see that stuff in the movies, you know.

It's an identity thing. They want to stay connected to their heritage.

I love it when players connect with the fans.

Gotta be a baseball fan. Gotta have it in your blood to understand.

Now that's an image.

Yeah...it's amazing how quick anti-baseball fans are to come out and ridicule baseball fans. It makes me laugh. Are these people not secure enough in their own interests?
