Barry Larkin on Baseball Tonight just said....





....at this stage of his career, Jeter is just a "complimentary player".

Since I didn't hear any, I assume the show is on a "delay" and they "silenced" the audible gasps in the studio.

I am surprised they didn't cut his mike like they do to those guys at the Oscars that don't "go along with the program" and go and thank everybody including their ferret.

Might be his "last day" though.

By complimentary, does he mean, "Wow! Great play, Eduardo. You are one kick-ass shortstop."

I think it was a nice way of saying he occupies a roster spot.

I have heard that Jeter can be overly generous with the compliments though. I heard he once referred to A-Rod's particular squeeze at the time as a "young lady".
