Will Quade survive?
I know the players do the playing but I honestly thought Quade would be better considering the ringing endorsement he got from the players last year when he was up for the job.
Quade's kind of lost me. For one, I think he has too slow a hook on starting pitchers (not that pulling the starter always works and you can't overuse the bullpen). He also lost a lot of us when he went off in public on Barney and Castro, his best two hitters up to that point, for their defensive lapses. Would the Cubs record be better if Ryne Sandberg were manager. We'll never know.
You are closer to it than I though I do read the Tribune daily.
I did see the Barney/Castro thing which I believed happened in the same game and it had a "scapegoat" feel to it for me and I think it could have been handled in the clubhouse.
I know the columnists there seem pretty solidly anti-Quade so unless he can turn them and the fans around......
