Random, scattered and unorganized "National" thoughts

1. Many less dealers than when the convention was in Chicago three years ago. The "side room" was practically empty where it was full last time. A guy at our hotel advised me that this was also noticeably smaller than Baltimore last year. What this means, no clue.

2. Much bigger "crowd" (less elbow room) but this may be because almost nobody is in the side room where it was packed three years ago.

3. Our hotel was also hosting a "Beatles" convention; without the Beatles of course. A "National" person who I was talking to scoffed (good-naturedly) regarding the "Beatles" people. I told him that they are no doubt saying the same thing about these "baseball card" people. Fun fact: no Beatles fans are "young".

4. Four hours into our return drive home, we are passed by a vehicle with a poster tube near the back window with a PSA sticker on it (PSA does posters?). Baseball card people dominating that stretch of highway.

5. 9 year old Skater Boy (Louis) is an accomplished baseball and hockey player (shown above in his little league All Star Game introductions) and I am very proud of his accomplishments. That said, he cannot seem to master the skill of advising us on long drives that he has to "make water" more than 10 minutes before he absolutely has to go. This is potentially disastrous when we are travelling in "desolation zones" in western Michigan. Anyway, it was close but we found him a suitable spot. He is working on this skill (and doesn't mind that it is posted here).

Addendum to what you said about the show size: a dealer near the show entrance commented that very few people came to this show looking to sell collections, implying that dealers and serious collectors have absorbed most of what families or casual collectors bought in the past. If true, I wonder what that means for the future?
