Profound clubhouse thoughts
"I just had to leave it all on the field"
4 out of 5 stars on the "cliche-meter": A good all-purpose* cliche that can be used in a variety of situations. One added benefit is nobody can question your heart with this one no matter how badly you may have performed. A good one to always have in your back pocket and use at the appropriate time.
*Shouldn't any competent spellcheck program be able to decipher that "puprose" is a misspelling for "purpose" and not "porpoise" or numerous other exotic words?

I love those inane sayings. My son and I were watching ESPN Sunday Night Baseball a few weeks ago when one of the announcers said, "You gotta pay to get in here tonight."
Even though we knew what he meant (it was an historic event-like maybe a brawl in Oakland...?), it still sounded a bit off.
I wondered, "You mean there are some games you DON'T have to pay to get into?"
Hmmm, the more I think about it, maybe that's the only way the Florida Marlins could get anyone to show up.
I was lurking on a sports journalism talk board and the reporters there were complaining that their editors practicaly demand quotes for their stories so they end up prying these athletes for boilerplate quotes even though they add little or nothing to the story.
Then guys like me get to make fun of it!
