lol on your joke, dude. 'play at the plates' right - hadda be better than tommy lasordas neice, daughter or whoever it was that threw out the (10th) first pitch at the final dodgers home game. dang thing went aobut 20 feet.
After seeing Reggie Jackson and others disasterous first pitch throws, my nine year old who loves baseball asked me why so many people have trouble with the first pitch. I started with "Well you are throwing from a hill" and went to "It is kind of far" and then to "Most people are not really athletes" and ended up with "I don't know".
I think it must be the nerves. We live by a college and sometimes do some BP over on their practice field. I am 46 yrs old and haven't played organized baseball since I was 18, but I can easily throw it from the mound to home. But I bet you put me out on a field in front of 30,000 people and It would be a different story.
Mariah Carey has the best first pitch I've ever seen. No one can top her.
