On this date in 1972 in Game 2 of the ACLS, Bert Campaneris of the A's throws his bat at Lerrin Legrow of the Tigers after being hit by a pitch. Both players are ejected and Campaneris is suspended for the rest of the series.
I still say that photo in "mid-throw" would have been a much better choice for his 1973 Topps card than what they actually used.
They were doing "in action" cards by then!
Missed opportunity!
