Eddie Cicotte

On this date in 1919, White Sox pitcher, Eddie Cicotte makes two errors in one inning of Game 4 of the World Series to give the Reds the only runs of the game. He later admitted involvement in a plan to throw the games in the Series, the Black Sox Scandal, and is ultimately banned from baseball.

"I muffed the ball on purpose. All the runs scored against me were due to my own deliberate errors. I did not try to win."
