Mike Andrews
On this date in 1973, A's second baseman makes two errors on consecutive plays in the twelve inning of Game 2 of the World Series leading to a 10-7 loss to the Mets. After the game, A's owner, Charlie Finley pressures Andrews to sign a false affidavit saying he was injured and then declares him ineligible for the rest of the Series. Commissioner, Bowie Kuhn soon forces Finley to reinstate Andrews.
"Finley told me if you want to help this team, the best thing you can do is step aside and let us put Manny Trillo in there. He kept beating me down and finally I just signed it."
