Tom Seaver
On this date in 1967, Tom Seaver of the Mets records his first major league victory in a 6-1 win over the Cubs.
"I had a pitch count. My pitch count as a general rule was 135. And I knew how many pitches I had when I went to the mound for the last 3 innings. And I wasn't going to spend 8 pitches on the number 8 hitter. On the second or third pitch, he should be hitting a ground ball to the shortstop."
