Jim "Catfish" Hunter

On this date in 1968, Jim "Catfish" Hunter pitches a perfect game against the Twins, winning 4-0.

Buttermaker: Who do you think you are, Catfish Hunter?

I think Walter Matthau loved to say the word 'catfish'. Check out Grumpy Old Men and see how many times he says it.

Good point. He didn't say "minnow" nearly as much.

Wasn't he the first free agent that the Yankees signed? Or was that Vida Blue? It was long time ago; hard to remember.
Loved the Bad News Bears with Walter Matthau.
Thought the newer one was good, too, but not as good as the original.

I think Horace Clarke preceded both of them actually.
