Ty Cobb

On this date in 1928, Ty Cobb steals home for the 54th and final time in his 24-year career.

"The basepaths belonged to me, the runner. The rules gave me the right, I always went into a bag full speed, feet first. I had sharp spikes on my shoes on my shoes. If the baserunner stood where he had no business to be and got hurt, that was his fault."

I think a lot of people share Ty Cobb's philosophy towards the basepaths. But instead of basebaths, they extend it to mean the lanes of the freeway.
