On this date in 1996, Tony Phillips of the White Sox is picked off base in the 9th inning of a 3-2 loss to the Brewers. He then learns that battery charges have been pressed against him by a fan that he got into a shoving match with after he left yesterday's game in the 7th inning, changed into street clothes and sought out the fan.
