Called shot
On this date in 1932, Babe Ruth as legend has it, calls his home run against Cubs pitcher, Charlie Root in the 3rd inning of Game 3 of the World Series.
"My dad took me to see the World Series and we were sitting behind third base not too far back. Ruth did point to the center field scoreboard. And he hit the ball out of the park after he pointed with his bat. So it really happened." - Supreme Court Justice, John Paul Stevens
"Ruth did not point to the fence before he swung. If he had made a gesture like that, well anybody who knows me knows that Ruth would have ended up on his ass." - Charlie Root
