Joe Nuxhall


On this date in 1944, 15-year-old Joe Nuxhall becomes the youngest pitcher in major league history when he pitches two-thirds of an inning for the Reds in an 18-0 loss to the Cardinals.

"I was pitching against 7th, 8th and 9th graders, kids 13 and 14 years old. All of a sudden, I look up and there's Stan Musial and the like. It was a very scary situation."
