A surefire way to get your ballpark fireworks display shut down
Shower the city fire chief who just so happened to be attending the game with ash and firework debris.
Per wtop.com in an article titled "Chief shuts down fireworks at Nats Park", D.C. Fire Chief Dennis Rubin shut down the fireworks at the stadium Sunday after the ash from the fireworks fell on him before the Washington Nationals game. At the time, he was sitting along the first base line.
(wrong guy to hit, ya think?) Back to the article.
"I noticed during the National Anthem there was a significant fallout - paper product and ash - coming from the fireworks," Rubin said. "We want to be able to have great celebrations when our home team hits a home run or when we have a victory, but we got to do it in a way that doesn't put people at risk".
The article goes on to say that the Washington Nationals will consider an alternative launching spot for the fireworks.
Yea, work on that ok?

Perhaps they could only set the fireworks off when they win a game.
Sorry, that was too easy. And I really do like the Nats.
Mark,
Yes, they could definitely save on the pyrotechnic budget that way as they might only have to shoot them off once a week.
I love the Dunn, Kearns and Willingham outfield they trot out there sometimes; but not in a "high-quality defense" kind of way.
