And that would work why?

Dick Kaegel of mlb.com reports that the Royals are considering using Kyle Farnsworth who has not started a game since 2000 as a starter.

"Kyle Farnsworth is competing for a job in the rotation," said pitching coach, Bob McClure. "We're going to lengthen him out and see how it goes."

(Gulp)

Oh, come now! Is this some kind of sick and twisted joke? Kyle Farnsworth is going to start?! What is the record for most home runs given up in one year anyway? That will be shattered, no doubt.

If you are stuck with Farnsworth because of a guaranteed contract, you want to limit his innings; not give him more. What am I missing here?

Further, you are going to fry out your middle relief as these guys will need to be ready in the 2nd and 3rd innings. As a matter of fact, you should probably have one of your middle relievers warming up alongside Farnsworth just before the game as you know they will be needed soon.

Kyle Farnsworth is going to start?!

When he fails, do you make him the closer?

Is anybody "in charge" over there?

Braden Looper had a couple half-decent seasons as a starter after struggling as a closer. There's really no reason not to give it a shot.

Paul,

I gotcha.

I had Looper last year in fantasy though so I know first hand why is presently unsigned.
