Andy Pafko
Born today, Andy Pafko who of course was the subject of card #1 in the 1952 Topps inaugural set. As everybody knows, in it's day, it was one of the most disrespected baseball cards in history because as with any #1 card, it was continually assaulted by rubber bands, shoe box sides and edges etc.
This truly is a Cinderella story because as all collectors know, this card in good condition is somewhat rare and now quite valuable. The once disrespected is now the highly-sought after.
There is a moral in this story somewhere.
I just haven't figured it out yet.
Sorry.
