If you didn't know better......
....you would think that "The Who" is a drummer guy with a bad haircut and weird purplish shirt with two old guys as his backing band.
Since when does a session player get so much air time on a national stage?
Comments from Computer Boy and Skate Kid:
1. "What is this?"
2. "Is he the drummer?"
3. "Why don't they ROCK?"
4. "This is very boring."
5. "How many songs are they gonna play?"
(Back to baseball tomorrow. Just a little diversion today.)

CBS was probably afraid Roger Daltry was going to have a stroke on live TV...and the drummer is Ringo Starr's kid (Zach Starkey - who's also played with Oasis)
Thanks. Did not know that was Ringo's son. Still... since when does someone "not in the band" get all that face time on a national broadcast?
I am still kind of chuckling about it.
The Who doesn't rock?
OK, I'm going to take a moment to try to absorb that.
...or "another reason baseball is better"... no halftime shows.
Night Owl, I did tell them that I saw The Who on their "farewell tour" in 1982 and they were not impressed. Of course, they have played hundreds of shows since that "farewell tour" but that is another story. I think they would have liked the Ramones to have been resurrected for the show or a skatepunk band.
Drizz, I hear you but I never turn down free "entertainment'.
They should of had The Who play at Superbowl 34, I think it would have been better. I like the who but they showed there age a little bit Sunday. I also don't think they needed to show the drummer, Ringo's son or not, as much as they did. They even showed him during Roger's legendary screem in Won't Get Fooled Again.
Actually, I did notice that they did cut away just before that scream. Roger's voice sure isn't what it used to be and the "contrarian" in me thinks that that "scream" might just have been imported for that moment.
Yeah, he can't do that scream anymore. I think that's common knowledge.
My wife kept asking. Who's the drummer? Is he important? I said I don't think he's anybody...maybe he knows Paris Hilton. My wife wanted to know why they kept showing the drummer. This was only half way through their set. I belive the fancy stage got even more air time though. I can only assume the director didn't know anything about the Who and the drummer was well lit.
Tastelikedirt.
The more I think about it, the more bizarre I think that show was.
That aside, and I know Roger and Pete are "older" but would it have killed Pete to do a few windmills or for Roger whip around the mike cord?
These are their signature moves and not all that physically demanding.
It is also possible that we missed them with all the drummer shots.
