Our local park is getting a name change.....

.....and it "don't" sound so good.

Our local heroes, the Lansing Lugnuts, Class A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays play in a beautiful park which was previously, and always, known as Oldsmobile Park. This would have been the last year of GM's 15 year sponsorship with the City Of Lansing for the park's naming rights but GM broke the contract in it's bankruptcy reorganization in 2009.

Well, the City of Lansing has found another entity willing to purchase the park's naming rights and henceforth the park will be known as:

(drum roll please)

Thomas M. Cooley Law School Stadium

Really? Ugggh. That's rough. I am a little underwhelmed to be honest.

At least the "Park" is now a "Stadium" and they didn't even have to add on to it. Funny how that works.

Oh, well. It is what it is. If this in some small way helps the Lugnuts stay in this economically depressed town,*then I guess this is "ok".

HOWEVER if the owners of the "establishment" across the street ever change their name, I will be super-pissed.

Do not, I repeat DO NOT mess with the "Nut House"!

*They send me an email a week. They are trying. I will give them that.

Lansing Lawyers. Way too easy. Go A-Jays.

Nice name but can't have it when you have the world's largest lugnut perched atop a smokestack right across the street. Actually it can be seen in the bottom picture.

Well, come to think of it, we could put a lawyer up there.
