Boog Powell
On today's date in 1962, Orioles first baseman Boog Powell became the first player to hit a home run over the center field hedge at Memorial Stadium with a 469 foot blast off Don Schwall of the Red Sox.
Fast forward to 2010 where Orioles first basemen have hit a grand total of zero* home runs through 69 games this year.
Just because you excel at asbestos litigation does not mean you can run a baseball team.
Two different things, you know.
*You don't even have to hit it like Boog. Even one inch over the fence would count.
