On today's date in 1935, Dodger outfielder, Len Koenecke was dropped by the team and then removed from an American Airlines flight for drunkenness in Detroit. Koenecke then hired a private plane and pilot to fly him to Buffalo.
During the flight, Koenecke tries to take over the controls of the plane and gets into a fight with the pilot. He dies after the co-pilot hits him over the head with a fire extinguisher.
Moral of the story for pilots?
Do NOT allow yourself to be hired by drunk guys.
I don't care how bad the economy is or if the Great Depression is raging or anything else.
Not worth it.
Pass!
