Adam Greenberg

On this date in 2005, in his first major league at bat, the Cubs Adam Greenberg is struck in the back of the head by the first pitch he sees from Valerio de los Santos of the Marlins. Greenberg is forced to leave the game and due to lingering effects of the concussion never returns to the major leagues.

"You can sulk about what might have been, or you can make the best of it."

Just FYI, Adam is currently playing for the Bridgeport Bluefish, along with Antonio Alfonseca, Juan Rincon, and Angel Berroa.

That is a colorful group with "6 finger" Alfonseca, "steroid" Rincon and "one season" Angel Berroa.

On Greenberg, I remember being at the gym watching highlights while on the treadmill and I saw that for the first time. I remember thinking, "I can't believe that happened."
