On this date in 1959, Hamtramck, Michigan wins the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Hamtramck is a tiny, gritty, working class city that is entirely surrounded by the City of Detroit. (The City of Detroit grew around them and eventually enveloped them)
My wife grew up in Hamtramck.
They still talk about the 1959 team to this day.
