Bill Mazeroski
Born on today's date, Bill Mazeroski.
The 13 year old boy who caught the walk-off home run apparently traded the ball back to Mazeroski for two cases of beer.
The drinking age in Pennsylvania?
Well I don't know but it sure wasn't 13.
Well, I guess it was "only beer".
Good thing it wasn't the 1986 Mets.
Who knows what they would have offered the boy.

Actually Maz signed it for him and he took it home. His father and he put it on display for several years. When he was about 15 or so he and some friends needed a ball for a sandlot game. He grabbed the Mazeroski ball and the game was one. The game ended when a player hit the ball into some tall grass. It could not be located.

Thanks!
I love urban legends (which I apparently in a small way perpetuated)
