Don Aase

Born on today's date, Don Aase.

People can be cruel with the taunting and stuff.

Especially if your name is spelled really close to that of a body part.

No excuse for what he did though.

As you get older, some memories stay clear and cemented in your mind even as simple things like 'What did that guy just say?' slip out without so much as a goodbye. I can remember sitting on the curb in '76, opening a pack of cards, and pulling out this 4-player rookie card of his and wondering how in the hell do you pronounce his last name.

And I'm assuming the "no excuse for what he did" refers to him getting a permanent on his hair at some point. Look at his 70's cards... straight hair. Look at his frizzy curls on '87 and '88 cards... there is no excuse for that, a grown man curling his hair...

Definitely agree on the "no-excuse for a perm for a guy" thing.

I was thinking about the "incident so shocking it cannot be described" that happened one day when one too many people mangled (either intentionally or unintentionally) the pronunciation of his last name.
