On today's date in 1985, the Royals beat the Cardinals in Game Six of the World Series thanks in part to a blown call at first base by umpire Don Denkinger who calls the Royals' Jorge Orta safe at first base when replays show him to be clearly out.
"My mother-in-law was a basket case. People were calling and saying they were going to burn the house down."
