Vernon Wells decides not to opt out of his contract!


This slugger who hit .218 with 25 home runs and 66 rbis is due to make $62 million in his next 3 seasons.

Of course, had he opted out he probably could have gotten a spring training invite from some team with a promise that he could maybe make the opening day roster and contribute in some way.

I am thinking that Vernon made the right call here.

If he opted out, the Mets would have a spot for him. I'm sure of it...
