Andy Pafko

Born on today's date, Andy Pafko.

Andy, of course, was the subject of card #1 in the 1952 Topps inaugural set. As many know, it was one of the most disrespected baseball cards in history because as with any #1 card, it was continually assaulted by rubber bands, shoe box sides and edges etc.

This truly is a Cinderella story because as most collectors know, this card in good condition is very rare and now quite valuable. The once disrespected is now the highly sought-after.

There is a moral in this story somewhere.

I just haven't figured it out yet.
