Deion Sanders


On this date in 1989, Deion Sanders who was the fifth player selected in the 1989 NFL Draft hits a home run for the Yankees in a 12-2 win over the Mariners. Five days later in his NFL debut with the Falcons, Sanders returns a punt 68 yards for a touchdown.

Sanders: "I'll do anything possible to help the team - steal, walk, bunt, anything.

Sportswriter: "Get hit by a pitch?"

Sanders: "No"

Deion Sanders is the person who taught me that "it aint bragging if you can do it." I mean, the man is a reprehensible braggart, but he would go out on the field and back it up. I hate him, but I do respect him.
