This is one of the few quotes from DiMaggio that doesn't make him sound like a jackass. For all his personal faults, he was a hell of an outfielder.
Actually true as many people are not familiar with his difficult personality.
He had Paul Simon as his PR guy all these years. Anyone who ever had to deal with Joe on a personal level in his life has horror stories. Plus, it was his insistence that he be introduced as the "greatest living ballplayer" which really should tell you all you need to know about the man.
