Reds release Mark Prior

 

Apparently Dusty was considering calling him up from AAA so he could throw 140 pitches in a farewell start for old-times sake but thought better of it.

In Soviet Russia, DL is called Kerry Wood

Though in some areas, the other colloquialism "Mark Prior" is used.

Both are "regime approved" though.

After missing out on Cliff Lee and some others....

....the Yankees pulled the trigger on Plan X and signed Mark Prior.

Incidentally, Plan Z was Darren Dreifort.

Now that would suck!

What's a pitch count?

So the Reds managed by Dusty Baker have signed a young, raw prospect from Cuba with apparently a great deal of potential to a long-term contract.

Anybody seeing anything wrong with this picture?

I know that Mark Prior and Jason Schmidt, just to name a few, object.

Remember when the Twins got criticized for taking Joe Mauer over Mark Prior with the #1 pick in 2001?

Mark Prior had all the "Tools of the Trade" and the Twins blew it by passing on him and picking some local kid.

Ummm....maybe not.
