So Adam Dunn is 0-33 against lefties

Is the White Sox batting practice pitcher right-handed or left-handed?

Well there you go!

Oliver Perez needs work!

So does Dontrelle Willis.

So what if they're wild! Dunn has to learn how to hang in there!

Notice I am not bragging about solving this whole thing.

So the Nationals signed Ollie to a minor league contract

Now comes the hard part. Where to assign him.

Presumably you want him at a level where he can get some guys out.

Do you have to be a "rookie" to play in the Rookie League?

Just askin'.

So the Mets are going to pay Ollie $12 million to not play for them

The "pay for not play" thing!

They should have contacted me. I would have agreed to not play for them for just a measly grand! Or absent that, a few of those St. Patrick's Day hats.

Think of the "savings"!

No economic degrees apparently in that front office.

Oliver Perez "locked out"

David Lennon of Newsday reports that Oliver Perez attempted to report to Spring Training early at the Mets facility in St. Lucie yesterday but when he walked up to the clubhouse door, he found out it was locked. Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report Tuesday.

Of course considering that this is Ollie, you just KNOW there is more to the story here.

I bet if Ollie thought to look behind those quickly drawn curtains, he would have seen some movement in there.

Those cars in the parking lot?

They didn't get there by themselves!

Considering his disaster of a season last year, it probably did make sense for him to just leave and come back Tuesday when they are "open".

Now if they wont let him in then....

Little did he know that Ollie was going to pitch

Hit batsman followed by three walks to lose the game.

They sure are "Amazin".

Santana's surgery is tomorrow

I know three guys who might not visit.

Beltran has a charity that takes up his time though.

Castillo has a queasy stomach.

Ollie might be the best bet.

Oliver Perez isn't so good on 29 days rest

First batter seen in 29 days.

Touch em all!

McCann couldn't believe his luck seeing Ollie trotting in there!

He should buy a lottery ticket on the way home.

Pick up a Pepsi too if they are doing one of those cap "instant winner" things.

Hey Mets!

You might as well make Ollie and Frenchy's contracts non-guaranteed too.

Make the Union fight you on three fronts.

What do you have to lose?

Friday, August 13, 2010

So the Mets have two pitchers on their staff who have not pitched since August 1st?!

I am guessing the owner does not physically sign the paychecks over there.

Jerry Manuel says there is an outside chance Oliver Perez starts Saturday

Jerry has this completely mixed up!

Once Ollie starts, now THAT is when things start going "outside".

With this "outside" problem, can you go with two catchers and do without a right fielder? Expands the catching zone.

You would only have to do it for few innings until you are into your bullpen.

Well, just a thought.

Jerry does need to work on this "outside" talk though.

Can't we all just get along?

Not when you pitch like that we can't!

"You tell him you go to Triple-A or that's it, you are finished."

Anonymous Mets player after Oliver Perez who has a 6.25 ERA this year refused a brief rehab assignment to AAA per Mike Puma of the New York Post.

The good thing to take out of this is when you eat dinner by yourself, you can go wherever you want. No more sushi; "just to be nice".

Is there an excorcist in the house?

I half expect him at his next outing to levitate off the mound, spin his head around three times and then float away out of the stadium.

Something metaphysical has happened to him.

This guy is severely compromised.

He made a deal somewhere, right?

I want to see him give up a five run home run.

No, we don't always pick on the Pirates

They have done a few things right.

We will give them that.

??????

This quote from Mets GM Omar Minaya from Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated:

"St. Louis is always tough. If we can win two out of three, that will be outstanding. If we win one, I'll take it."

(Stunned silence)

What the?!

Any GM that will "take" a .333 winning percentage is stealing.

Sorry.

Ollie at $12 million a year?

Work on that* instead of telling your guys you expect them to lose.

*Well not a whole lot you can do about that NOW of course.
