Rules that apply only to one person are usually bad

Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star indicates that the Royals have fined shortstop, Yuniesky Betancourt an undisclosed amount for dropping an infield pop-up in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Rangers.

The Royals do not like Yuniesky's technique of catching pop-ups with one hand to the side of his body and below his head rather than above his head. Apparently he has always caught pop-ups this way while with the Royals and throughout his career.

They won't force him to change but they will be fining him every time he drops a ball using this technique. This doesn't apply to anybody else.* Just him.

??????

This is reason #614 why Kansas City will never become a free agent destination of choice.

*Ever seen Jose Guillen in the outfield?

Oh, come on now!

Adam Wainwright on Matt Holliday's dropped ball per the AP story:

"The ball got lost in 50,000 white towels shaking in front of Matt's face. It doesn't really seem fair that an opposing team should be able to allow their fans to shake white towels when there's a white baseball flying through the air. How about Dodger Blue towels?"

Oh my Lord!

Give it a rest!

Has Wainwright ever been to a playoff game before? What do you see in the stands? A LOT of waiving towels.*

Like always.

*Are the towels in St. Louis going to be an "off-white" color?

Not exactly an athletic play to put it mildly

Ok, obviously nobody is perfect and all but how does Matt Holliday drop that ball?

The announcers said he had to run for it. Yeah, like 5 or 6 steps!

He looked like John Q. Public out there.

Well actually, more like Homer Simpson.

No forget that, it was more like Chewbacca.

That or maybe that McDonalds "Grimace" guy.

He needs to hit like a five run home run tomorrow to make up for that.
