Timmy's day in court
Tim Lincecum, minus the beanie, showed up in a Vancouver, Washington court Tuesday and accepted a reduced drug paraphernalia charge stemming from an incident in October where he was found in possession of marijuana and a pipe while on a police traffic stop on Interstate 5. The civil infraction drew a $513 fine for Lincecum.
Pete Danko of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Lincecum told the judge, "I'll try not to let this happen again" which to me seems to be code language for, "Judge, I really like to smoke pot but I am going to be a little more careful with it in the future so I do not have to see you again."
Frankly, there does not seem to be a whole lot of interest in this matter from the general public and I guess I have to include myself in the "disinterested" camp here. I must say though that this is quite different than the general public's hysterical reaction to Michael Phelps' drug use which surfaced about a year ago.
Well, I guess that is the difference between being an international star with tons of product endorsements and a baseball player in notoriously laid-back San Francisco with only a few endorsements; though I bet Tim could add a few head shops to that list now.
Just sayin.

I'm pretty surprised that there's not more of an uproar about this considering he is the reigning Cy Young winner. I don't care much myself but thought the community might...
Ryan,
Agreed. I thought there would be more attention. Not that I think it would necessarily be warranted but like you say it is a drug charge with the reigning NL Cy Young award winner.
Kevin
California is presenting the first ever 'Pot for Pleasure' bill. Times are changing rapidly.
I found the Michael Phelps outrage goofy and disingenuous, so I'm glad to see there is little interest in the Lincecum situation.
