Born today, none other than Charlie Hayes.
On August 15, 1990, Terry Muhlholland of the Phillies was throwing a perfect game against the Giants retiring every single batter he faced until the Giants Rick Parker reached first base on a throwing error by Charlie Hayes spoiling the perfect game.
That is when the mysterious vandalism started at the Hayes residence.
An analysis of a shoe print left in the residue of a rotten tomato at the Hayes property led directly to........well you guessed it.
Hayes declined to prosecute but did insist that a police report be filed on the incident. Just so it was on record.
Then the fire happened.
