Then why have a AAA team?

They are just trying to sear up that perverbial "Flex" pitcher that can pitch for long stretches of time either as a starter, middle reliever or closer. Park wasn't horrible when he was in the National league before. He just sucked ass as a Yankee.
I am much happier with their acquisition of Chris Resop. He is actually a fairly decent pitcher.
I gotcha. I am of course removed from the situation but I would think Park's shelf life is this year and MAYBE next year. The Pirates aren't going to be competitive during that time period so why not look at whoever you have in your system.
By the way, I saw the Pirates when they came to Detroit weeks back and saw Evan Meek pitch. I have never ever seen a pitcher work more slowly. Every pitch, he steps off the mound and takes a few steps towards the first base side where he stops and then takes off his hat, he then SLOWLY walks to behind the mound and faces second base, then he wipes his brow and SLOWLY puts his hat back on and then SLOWLY walks back to the mound and only then does he look in for the sign. He did this every pitch. I have never seen anything like it before.
They don't have anyont in AAA that they want to see because they have a whole AAA team in the Majors...
