Chan Ho Park

Born on today's date, Chan Ho Park.

"The last time I saw somebody kick someone in a fight, it was my little sister kicking my brother for taking her Barbie doll." - Gary DiSarcina of the Angels on Park's "karate kick" during a 1999 brawl

The Pirates picked up Chan Ho Park?!

Ummmmm why?

Yeah why?

Did Obama enlist "Brownie" to work on the Gulf oil spill?

Did they bring in William Hung to sing the National Anthem at that State Dinner?

Would you commission a work of art from Mike Tyson?

"No" of course to any of that!

Because only idiots do things like that!

There is absolutely NOBODY at AAA they would like to take a look at?

Then why have a AAA team?

They are 23 games out. What do they have to lose?

Yankees release Chan Ho Park

He just never got used to pitching without that batting practice screen in front of him.

That certainly has a value but not at $1.2 million a year.

Most teams just have a coach do it.

Chan Ho Park?

Brian Cashman no learn from the Kyle Farnsworth thing.*

* My son was reading a Hulk comic book the other day and this hulk guy is certainly an unappreciated wordsmith. Puny humans no respect him. No get it.

Chan Ho Park says he must be a starter

Per Reuters, 36-year-old free agent relief pitcher Chan Ho Park says he must be starting pitcher next year for a major league team.

"I want to be a starter, the hero of the game. I need a favorable environment to play better. I put priority on a team which has a good atmosphere, gives me a starter role and can advance to the World Series."

Chan Ho Park as a starter? That seems a little crazy but I have an open mind so let's check this out.

Let's look at his yearly ERA while he was a starter:

2002 - 5.75
2003 - 7.58
2004 - 5.46
2005 - 5.74
2006 - 4.81
2007, 2008 & 2009 - No team dared to start him regularly and some years not at all.

I am convinced. He can do it.

How much do you want to be paid? Too much is not enough.

Just let us know.

Chan Ho Park did what?

I read in the game summary of the Phlllies/Cubs game that Philadelphia's Chan Ho Park allegedly had 5 strikeouts in 3 perfect innings of relief. My initial (well only) thought was "Oh, come on now. Pictures or it didn't happen!", but there it is in the box score. It is there.

I have confirmed that Park does not have a twin brother and there was no imposter that infiltrated that game so I guess I willing accept that this performance is now a historical fact; maybe even worthy of a "historical oddities" Allen & Ginter card.

Stranger things have happened. I guess.(But I would have to really think)
