This Astrodome thing
So the Houston Chronicle reports that it would cost approximately $78 million to demolish the Houston Astrodome.
Amazingly, Harris County still owes $29.9 million on the building which was built in 1965 at a cost of $35 million.
Hello Harris County! Didn't anybody ever tell you that you gotta make more than the minimum payments every month!
Come on! I heard that the Alamo was paid off in less than a year!

as a Houstonian, seriously, I get depressed looking at the Astrodome. It's such a symbol of the city, or was, and it just sits there. Costing too much to tear down, costing too much to bring back to life and having really no purpose in life as it sits there empty and unused, dwarfed by the massive Reliant stadium that is 50 feet away from it (literally). Each year at the Rodeo, I have to drink at least 3 beers extra to forget the pain of seeing the once 8th wonder of the world sit there, unloved and unused...
