Jamie Moyer designated for assignment by the Rockies

You know nowadays teams can communicate this information to the league offices electronically.

Back when Jamie was cut the very first time in his career?

You guessed it! Pony express.

I just learned today that Moyer holds record for most home runs given up by a pitcher... all time. And he has a tight grip on that lead... Next down among actives is Livan Hernandez and Moyer has given up like 200 more than him. In fact next guy down the list that is under 35 is Barry Zito with fewer than half as many as Moyer has given up!

That is a commanding lead among actives considering Hernandez is at the tail end. Zito will rack them up no doubt but when his contract is up, I see him as situational lefty out of the pen for some team and his chances will no doubt decline. Racking my brain thinking of a semi-young durable mediocre rubber-armed pitcher who could one day challenge Moyer. Maybe if Bronson Arroyo avoids arm trouble.
