Josh Hamilton
On this date in 2010, Josh Hamilton is named the AL MVP.
"Dude, tell me one I haven't heard." - in response to a heckler who yelled "Don't trip on the white line!" referring to Hamilton's drug past

The Angels were 12/1 to win the World Series on October 30th
They're 25/1 now.
With a 13% chance of making the playoffs.
Gambling is just freaking hard.
Go to college.

Now that the Angels have Josh Hamilton and Albert Pujols
....they have two guys who's bodies are probably older than their listed age
....but for different reasons, of course.

Josh Hamilton has 8 RBIS tonight
And Pujols never had any therapy.
Or an intervention.
Or spending all that time in tattoo parlors.
He got to train through all that!
Talk about squandering your advantages.

I thought I heard the Rangers PA announcer pronounce Josh's name "Hamitlon"....
....but then I figured I just heard it wrong.
Then someone tweeted that they heard it.
Balki in the booth!
"My friend Larry Appleton".

At the game last night and sitting close to the field
I have wondered if Josh Hamilton still gets heckled regarding his drug past considering his genuine remorse and redemption story.
I can tell you that he still gets heckled on that.
Yeah, they appeared to be two "meanies" but still....

Jack McKeon took a pitcher out mid at-bat....
ummm........for a reason I guess.
Hey what are the side-effects of Metamucil?
Maybe that stuff shouldn't be "over the counter".
They're gonna need a "keeper".
You know like Josh Hamilton has.

Josh Hamilton's celebration plans

The Dallas News reports that Josh Hamilton is planning his clubhouse celebration in the event that the Rangers win their division.
"I'm going to have goggles on, duct tape over the mouth and either a wet suit or raincoat. It can't get on your skin. It'll soak through your skin."*
You know, I know some people where this is their normal Saturday night.
*Would it really kill the Rangers to have a non-alcoholic celebration in deference to their teammate? You can still get wet and wild, right? You have a teammate who absolutely cannot be around alcohol and you are going to spray the clubhouse with it? I am missing something here.

Remember those massive propaganda posters of Mao, Lenin & Stalin?

They never really influenced anybody's behavior.
Hamilton will catch this ball.
You can't stop him that way.

Josh, did you sign off on this one?

While I know that as a member of the players union, unless you opt out like Barry Bonds and strike your own deal with the card companies, you pretty much must allow your image to be used by the card companies for their cards.
Usually, no problem.
That said, I have to believe that Topps and Upper Deck can't just do ANYTHING with a player's image and I would think that the players do not have to pose for ANY type of shot that they don't feel comfortable with or allow the card companies to do something with the image that.......well flat out makes them look ridiculous.
If all that is true, how do you explain this one?

Josh Hamilton is not the only one with a LOT of ink

I will tie this one into baseball, I promise.
Yesterday, we took the boys to an amusement park 3 hours down the road.* It's summer, you know.
It happened to be very warm yesterday and by necessity most people were wearing as little clothing as possible. Now if you were in Venice Beach, you might look around a bit but in Average Town, U.S.A., not so much.
Anyway, I try to stay up on things.** I really do but I had no idea that the whole world has tattoos. Like THE WHOLE WORLD.
I thought only Josh Hamilton***, bikers, basketball players, Mike Tyson and middle age guys who did something they regretted 20 years ago in a drunken fog had these things. Boy was I wrong!
I must have been in a coma the last 5 years or so.
I missed the whole thing!
* Just once, try riding a roller coaster in a heavy rainstorm. It is like being in a wave pool.
** I remember the time when George Bush (the elder) well into his second term made a ceremonial visit to a grocery store and in all seriousness, cluelessly asked the clerk what a bar code scanner was.
*** This post is now baseball-related.
