Why do the Dodgers have problems with the Cubs?

I note that with Thursday's Dodgers victory over the Cubs, the Dodgers improved their all time record against the Cubs to 1015 - 1014.

1015 - 1014?

Considering how good the Dodgers have been historically and how bad the Cubs have been, how could this be? Didn't Dodger greats Sandy Koufax, Jackie Robinson, Lee Lacy, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, Jeff Hamilton and Steve Garvey rack up their share of wins against the hapless Cubs over the years? Guess not.

To add insult to injury, the Cubs fans don't even care. They just drink beer in the bleachers, sun themselves out there, call their bestest girlfriend to let them know they are at the game, mimic Ferris Bueller and also dispose of partially filled beer cups by throwing them at opposing players. They typically don't even know the score at any time during the game. Hey, truth is a defense to any libel action so back off!

Dodgers, you can't beat that?

Come on, bear down! It's the Cubs.

(I am going to be monitoring this a little closer from now on. Something is going on here that I just can't put my finger on)

Someone needs to give Prince Fielder that book that has baseball's unwritten rules in it

So after the Brewers/Dodgers game last night, Prince Fielder apparently charged through the underground tunnels at Dodger Stadium attempting to enter the Dodger clubhouse so to make a personal visit to Dodgers pitcher Guillermo Mota who hit him with a pitch in retaliation for Milwaukee pitcher, Chris Smith hitting Manny Ramirez because they had problems getting Ramirez out.

I have to believe that Fielder had a good idea that he was going to get hit after Ramirez got plunked with the Brewers down nine runs so I don't really understand the "going wild" thing on his part.

Now that I think about it, if you are going to do this, you may as well do it in the clubhouse rather than the field which may spare you a suspension.

On the other hand, then you have break down locks and doors and stuff and also scare people and maybe that is just not the best way to act out a tirade.

Maybe the best thing to do is just go to first base, think about what you are going to do after the game and just prepare for the next game. Not as exciting but.....

Manny is still adjusting to National League rules (or something)

Bottom of the first. No outs. Runner on first. Manny catches a line drive and runs in thinking the inning is over.

During the at bat, the guy thought there were two outs when there were none.

Where to start?

Aw heck, forget it! There is no sense trying. I cannot improve upon that.

I just can't.

Newsflash: Manny said he was right!

Per AP in the story regarding the Dodger game last night, it is noted that Manny Ramirez played all nine innings for the first time since his return as he was ejected for throwing equipment following a fifth-inning strikeout Tuesday night.

According to the story, Ramirez said umpire John Hirschbeck told him Wednesday that he missed the call in question the previous night.

"We're friends. Everybody makes mistakes(presumably referring to Hirschbeck, CC) . I overreacted," Ramirez said.

Hey Manny! A little subtle tip free of charge. If in fact Hirschbeck really said that to you in confidence, then that is the kind of thing that you keep to yourself.

What next?

"Bud Selig told me he was sorry about that suspension thing. He said his hands were tied. We're cool."

Andruw Jones does not seem to like Frank McCourt

I note that in an L.A. Times article titled "Andruw Jones says he left because of Frank McCourt", there are the following quotes attributed to Mr. Jones:

"He wasn't standing behind me, I think" Jones said adding that if McCourt had shown him more respect, "I almost definitely would be part of the L.A. Dodgers right now."

"It was disrespect" Jones said of the way McCourt spoke to him in their last meeting.

"I got paid that money because that was my value."

"I know it's his money but sometimes they need to stay away from what's going on in the field. He never played baseball before. He might have a sense of it from running the team but he can't be too involved like that."

This from a guy who after coming to spring training looking like the Michelin Man put up the following numbers in exchange for $18 million: .158 average, 3 HR, 14 RBI.
