Ballpark etiquette

There is one thing that I know that you cannot do "for sure" at Comerica Park.

In some of the lower sections which are near the field, there will be a Tiger employee security person who sits in a small chair in the aisle at row one and faces the crowd presumably watching for misbehavior. I have never seen the security person do anything other than passively watch the crowd; except once.

My friend and I were at a game a few years ago when I saw the security person suddenly get up from his chair and pull out a phone and speak loudly into the phone saying, "That is him in the red. Get him. Yes him. He did it." all while pointing behind us.

I said to my friend, "I wonder what happened."

I did not know that my friend happened to see what happened and told me, "The guy in the red shirt gave his friend the finger."

"Oh", I said, "I am sure they will just give him a warning."

I was wrong. To my surprise, they threw him out.

Moral of ths story: Do not give the finger to people at the ballpark. Security does not want to see THAT FINGER in any type of gesture towards another patron.*

Consider yourselves warned.

*You can use that finger along with other fingers to make silly faces towards other people at the park. I have seen kids do this and they were allowed to stay.
